29 Sep 2nd Grade – Spooky Castles
This is an all time favorite lesson! The motivation for this lesson comes from personal experience, an AMAZING visit to Warwick Castle in Warwick, England. It was a magical day running around a castle, climbing up on the top tower, going down to the creepy dungeon. It was amazing to see the history of this amazing place… once the home of King Henry the VIII and Queen Anne. Warwick Castle has an amazing virtual tour you can take your students on from your classroom!
Once you are done with this tour… your students are READY to create! We start with a couple pencil lines… horizon line and the sides of a rectangle for the center section… the entry way to the castle…. Then, I demonstrate how castles are a lot of sections of a large building all touching… wall to wall. Then cut them loose!
