04 Nov 2nd Grade – Laurel Burch Warm Suns & Cool Moons
Laurel Burch is most known for her cats but she makes some beautiful Suns and Moons!
After looking at Laurel Burch’s Suns & Moons, students chose a paper color. We discussed her use of WARM & COOL COLORS. If students were going to make a sun, they should stick mostly to the warm colors… a moon, mostly cool colors. We brainstormed different shapes for rays and went for it!
We traced a circle in the middle and started drawing the face and then rays. Then on to black tempera outlines.
Next week, we started coloring with oil pastels. I had boxes of warm and cool colors, so there were some warm colored tables and cool colored.
