1st Grade – Day of the Dead Skeletons

1st Grade – Day of the Dead Skeletons

First Graders want in on the Day of the Dead celebration too!  I have done these skeletons in several different ways over the years.  Here are three variations of the same idea.

Backgrounds – Anything you want!!! I like the skeletons on purple, magenta and black paper best.  Flowers of some type are necessary, I have printed with foam stamps, made simple cut paper flowers and painted flowers.  Whatever you are in the mood for!

Skeletons – Students create a sugar skull with a 3×4 piece of thick tag or watercolor paper.  Then I pass out 1×12 strips of thick watercolor paper, (my scraps left over from other projects).  Students cut the length of the strip and than cut bones!

Again another great project! I'm sharing your Day of the Dead projects with our 3-5 Spanish teacher if you don't mind! 🙂

Of course share! Kids love Day of the Dead projects. This is a very simple. I have done this before with cut paper flowers decorated with oil pastels which is easier if printing with paint is out. LOTS of variations for this one!

I love these!!! They are so bright and beautiful and they would go along perfectly with the 5th graders learning about the skeletal system!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

I do a similar project to these but use the craft straws to create the bones. Its a favorite project every year with my 3rd graders.
